Dad Arrested For Breaking Traffic Laws While Rushing Daughter to Hospital

A group of nurses did a good deed for a dad in need after he was arrested for multiple traffic infractions while racing his 1-year-old daughter to a hospital in Illinois.

Darius Hinkle told KTVI he was driving at 100 mph to get his daughter to Touchette Regional Hospital while the 1-year-old was choking on a penny.

"The first thing in my mind was to get her to the hospital," he told the station.

By the time Hinkle, his wife and daughter, made it to the hospital, several police officers with a few different agencies were in pursuit behind him, and took Hinkle into custody.

Hinkle also admitted to authorities that he didn't have a valid driver's license.

The daughter was treated and released.

The 1-year-old's mother, Donecia Pittman, said when she arrived at the jail to bond Hinkle out, a woman she'd never seen before was already there to bond Hinkle out. Pittman says a group of nurses collected money to pay for his bond. The amount of Hinkle's bond was not immediately clear.
